Retrograde

Retrograde is the apparent backward motion of a planet against the background stars as seen from Earth. The planet does not physically reverse its orbit.

The backward movement is an apparent motion from our viewpoint on Earth. Charted keeps that astronomical description separate from the reflective metaphor used in interpretation.

How Charted interprets it

Charted uses retrograde as a metaphor for reflective pause and revision rather than a physical effect. It can be an invitation to revisit, reconsider, or make room for reflection.
